Woman in critical condition, boyfriend arrested [1]

A 20-year-old man was arrested for assaulting his 31-year-old girlfriend who remains in critical condition at Vaiola Hospital.

 Acting Deputy Commissioner Tevita Vailea, Nuku’alofa Central Police said today, the accused was arrested on August 17.

He is charged with grievous bodily harm of the woman at a home in Havelu on August 13.

Meanwhile, the victim sustained major injuries and is in a critical condition at the hospital, said the A/Deputy Commissioner.

The accused is in police custody to appear at the Magistrate’s Court on August 24.
