Two arrested as Tonga Police targets drug dealers [1]

Two people were arrested with methamphetamine by Tonga Police in separate locations in Tongatapu.
Acting Deputy Commissioner Tevita Vailea said today that the Police Drug Enforcement Taskforce arrested a 51-year-old man on July 11, at Bypass Road. Seized from inside his vehicle were 25.9 grams of methamphetamine, $16,000 pa’anga cash and drug utensils.
The accused is from Tokomololo.
Later on the same day, a 28-year-old woman from Mataika was arrested on Taufa'ahau Road in Havelu.
Police seized one pack of methamphetamine (0.59 grams), $100 pa’anga cash and drug utensils.
Both accused have been charged with possession of illicit drugs and will appear at the Magistrate's Court later this week.
Police continue to target drug dealers who sell drugs from vehicles in an on-going operation. “We are committed to disrupt and detect the supply of drugs and hold those responsible to account,” said the A/Deputy Commissioner.
“Police, Partner Agencies and Community together will win this war against drugs and safeguard our children and the future of Tonga from its ill effects," he said.
