The demand for democracy is high [1]

Editor,

Thank you very much for the opportunity to communicate with my fellow countrymen and women through this medium.

Mr. Kava slammed the people's representatives for selling or allowing the sale of the former Tonga Power Board to Shoreline. There are two issues here that I would like to find the truth and I am very confident that someone out there who knows the paliament records which hold the real true (answers) to these accusations:

1) The voting record of the people's, Ministers, and nobels' reps regarding the sale of the power company.

2) How much money did the Shoreline Principals give the government for this transaction?

One can only imagine the outcome of the vote when the Ministers (who are appointed by the King), and the nobles' reps (who are close relatives of the King) outnumbered the people's reps by at least 30%.

I would like to leave you with this illustration.

I invite my fellow U.S. Military friends to my house for a poker game Texas Holdem that is. I hand pick two cards I like, and deal the rest of the deck to my friends. I win 70% of all hands. However, due to the scarcity of everyone else win, they all end up with a net loss at the end of the night.

I remember a very interesting principle I learnt at my college economics classes when I didn't fall asleep. "The law of supply and demand." When the demand is high, the supply must be low. Looking at the amount of demand for democracy, one can only draw conclusion that the country may be swimming below equilibrium of the democratic curve.

Faka'apa'apa atu,

'Aisea Tu'akihekolo Tu'ikolovatu
