Nuku'alofa, Tonga

Tuesday, April 21, 2020 - 17:58

Government has extended the application due date to May 1 for local registered businesses to apply for assistance, under a COVID-19 Business Economic Emergency Relief Fund.

This is due to a significant number of businesses not being able to submit an application. The COVID-19 Business Economic Emergency Relief Fund was re-opened effective from April 21.

The Ministry of Trade & Economic Development today said the extension is to allow time for those who did not submit applications.

This applies to registered businesses affected by the virus from January to March this year.

Forms are available from their website www.mted.gov.to [2], the Ministry of Finance website www.finance.gov.to [3] or from their head office and branches in Vava’u, Ha’apai and 'Eua.

The primary objective of this relief fund is to provide economic relief assistance, encourage business continuity plan and support recovery of local businesses in the formal and informal sectors that are affected by COVID-19.
