Four accused have been charged after 21.53 grams of methamphetamine was seized at three different locations in Tongatapu, over the past week.
Acting Deputy Commissioner Tevita Vailea said today, the three men and one woman were arrested at Pahu, the central bus station and Talasiu village in the eastern district. Also seized was cash (over $6,000 pa’anga) and drug utensils.
The accused have been charged and are expected to appear at the Magistrate's Court on a later date.
The A/Deputy Commissioner said that Police Drug Enforcement Taskforce continues efforts to disrupt the supply of illicit drugs that negatively impact our communities.
"Those who are seeking to profit from the harm these drugs cause can expect to be targeted by Police. Drugs have no place in our community; they destroy the lives of the users, harming our children and our communities. We hope these arrests will bring some reassurance to the community.”
He acknowledged the hard work and dedication of staff involved in the seizures, and their commitment to intercepting the supply of these harmful drugs.
Police also urged anyone who has information on drug dealing to contact them on 22782.
