A new water system was upgraded for the people of Pelehake and handed over on December 3 by Japan.
The funds of USD$89,073 installed a new electric water pump system, water tank, water pipes and pump house.
Japanese Ambassador HE Mr Tetsuya Ishii said Japan recognizes that a clean and stable supply of water is vital for everyday life, and they highly prioritize water supply projects on their development list.
He heard Pelehake had often suffered from water shortages due to the regular malfunctions of the old water pump and the deficiency of the tank and the tank stand.
"I am pleased that the water supply system has been improved through GGP and households will now be receiving clean and stable water, everyday."
Prince Tu'ipelehake thanked Japan for the generous assistance.
The village has a population of more than 700 people.
