Outdoor broadcasting vehicle for disaster preparedness [1]

An outdoor broadcasting vehicle to support natural disasters preparedness, was handed over by Japan to the Tonga Broadcasting Commission, on November 8.
The Japanese Ambassador HE Mr Tetsuya Ishii, said taking into account Japan’s experiences with natural disasters, the aim of this outdoor broadcasting vehicle is to keep people in Tonga well informed and to be prepared for natural disasters through on-site broadcasting and wider coverage.
"Disaster Risk Reduction is one of the priorities of our assistance to your country."
This would increase the effectiveness given by the Nationwide Early Warning System (NEWs).
Hon. Poasi Tei, Minister for MEIDECC thanked Japan for the much needed assistance.
Valued at $412,000 pa'anga, it was provided under Japan's Non Project Grant Aid (NPGA) signed in 2015.
This is the second outdoor broadcasting vehicle donated by the Japanese Government to TBC since 2014.
