The October Fishing Competition of the Nuku’alofa Fishing Club ended with a few surprises.
The Sports Fishing Competition Division was won by Barry Moore of the boat Hele Kosi with a 29.1kg Dogtooth Tuna.
However, the heaviest catch of the day was half-a-marlin weighing 69kg caught by Charles Sullivan on the boat Taipuha, but unfortunately because a shark snapped off the tail before they could get it on board, it could not be entered in the competition. Charles won second place with another fish, a 16.35kg Wahoo.
The Spearfishing Competition Division was won by Sepuloni Kitekei’aho on the boat Altair, with a 38.45kg Humphead Parrotfish - an unuusal looking fish.
The runner-up in the Spearfishing Competition Division was Layne Wilkens, on the Tongan Explorer with a 21.2kg Dogtooth Tuna.
The Junior Angler of the competition was Gordon Cumming on the Pacific Pearl with a 0.7kg Queenfish.
The fishing competition was sponsored by Billfish, Lion Liquor, Happy Sailor Tattoos and Praesida Alliance.
