Teen arrested in Vava’u homicide [1]

A 16-year-old boy has been arrested by Tonga Police in Neiafu in relation to the death of a 19-year-old on Saturday night, September 28.

Vaiola Hospital reported the death of the teen, who had been rushed into hospital with serious injuries.

The victim is alleged to have been involved in an altercation at Tu'anekivale with others, but no other details were released.

Tonga Police confirmed that a homicide investigation was underway.

The suspect, who remained in police custody, had not been charged at this stage.
