Road crash results in power outage [1]

A 24-year-old man from Ha’ateiho crashed into a power pole on Taufa’ahau Road at Fanga on August 30, which caused temporary power outage to the area.
Acting Chief Superintendent Tevita Vailea said the accused is alleged to have been intoxicated when he crashed his vehicle into a power pole at around 4:45am.
Police rushed him to Vaiola Hospital where he was examined and released.
an investigation continues, said the Acting Chief Superintendent.
Meanwhile, Tonga Power Ltd CEO Setitaia Chen said the power had been restored to the area, after it was shut down for repair from around 9.30-10.30am.
Power was off along Taufa’ahau Road from Queen Salote Memorial Hall to the Costlow store at Pea.
“Luckily, the major damage was just the pole,” he said.
