Sainai Prison in ‘Eua will receive new mattresses, pillows and cleaning equipment donated by the Tonga Red Cross Society.

The donation received by Deputy Prison Commissioner Manuofetoa and Prison Chaplain Rev Viliami Fanaika also included two sets of volleyball equipment for both men and women inmates at Hu’atolitoli Prison.

Earlier this year, a representative of the International Committee of Red Cross (ICRC) visited Sainai Prison together with Prisons Commissioner, Mr Semisi Tapueluelu.

Prisoners in Sainai now, will be given mattresses and blankets as the prison was affected by Cyclone Gita.

The donation had an estimated value of TOP3,500.00 in total.

Tonga Red Cross continues to offer First Aid training to the prisons.
