Tonga’s new Miss Galaxy Queen 2019-20, Marina Cocobutter (Miss Kingsland NZ), was crowned last night, July 18, in a colourful show at the Queen Salote Memorial Hall.
To the delight of a cheering full house, Marina (26) took the crown during a final night of judging events on galaxy wear, talent in traditional dance and rainbow evening wear, .
Marina, who is a florist from Tofoa won prizes that included a return ticket for two to Los Angeles and $3,000 cash prize.
The first Miss Galaxy Queen 1993, Vivian Charlie crowned the winner.
The runners up were:
- 1st runner up Seaview Lodge, Camilla Hansen (19)
- 2nd runner up Miss Asuka, Mia Florist and Event Planner, Ironicah All (23).
Ten contestants competed in this year’s pageant.
The Miss Galaxy Queen Pageant is a popular annual event organized by the Tonga Leiti’s Association (TLA).
The two nights of pageantry provided not only a great show for the audience, with fantastic creations in various forms of red and condoms. But it was also a platform for TLA to promote their work for the LBGT community and had booths displaying their initiatives to educate youths about NCDs, alcohol and drugs, mental health awareness and HIV/ STIs.
