With help from their friends the Real Tonga Touch Rugby team is taking part in the Pacific Games in Samoa.
Fehoko Tu'ivai, President of Tonga National Touch said the Real Tonga Touch Rugby Teams arrived in Apia, Samoa yesterday, 11 July.
“We want to let everyone know we made it to Samoa for the Pacific Games and most importantly to thank all our sponsors for their donations as they made our participation in this Pacific Games a reality,” she said today.
Their first games on Monday 15 July see the women’s team meet Cook Islands and men’s team meet PNG.
“Both Women's and Male Touch Rugby teams will do their best to glorify God and to show our appreciation for each and every single person who reached out and helped us make our dream a reality,” she said.
Although the team did not reach its targeted fundraising goal, she said. “We are still hopeful people would continue to help us, as we made deposits on some of our payments to be paid in full upon our return to Tonga.”
