LDS President Nelson visiting Tonga May 23 [1]

The head of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, President Russell M. Nelson will visit Tonga this week, on 23 May.

President Nelson is on a tour of seven countries in the Pacific Region, starting at Kona, Hawaii, on May 16; Apia Samoa on May 18; Sydney Australia on May 19; Auckland, New Zealand, May 21; Suva, Fiji, on May 22; Nuku’alofa, Tonga, May 23; and Papeete, Tahiti, May 24.

According to Sister Tautua’a from the LDS Mission Office in Tonga, a Special Service will be held at the Liahona rugby ground at 7:00pm on 23 May.

President Nelson is accompanied by his wife, Sister Wendy Nelson, and elder Gerrit W. Gong of the Quorum of the Twelve Apostles, and his wife, Sister Susan Gong.

President Russell M. Nelson (95), became the 17th President and a prophet of the LDS On 14 January 2018.

He was a surgeon and a medical researcher. He has 10 children with his first wife Dantzel White, who died in February 2005.

In 2006 President Russell M. Nelson married Wendy L. Watson.
