The price of petrol, kerosene, and diesel has increased for May-June starting yesterday, 16 May 2019.
The new prices were approved by the Tonga Competent Authority with wholesale petrol, kerosene and diesel increasing by 11.61 seniti/litre, 5.51 seniti/litre and 4.71 seniti/litre respectively.
Retail prices for petrol, kerosene and diesel on Tongatapu went up by 11.31 seniti/litre, 5.59 seniti/litre and 4.71 seniti/litre respectively. Petrol now costs 282.37 seniti/litre, kerosene 203.03 seniti/litre, and diesel 285.31 seniti/litre.
In Vava’u, the retail prices for petrol, kerosene, and diesel are 287.57 seniti/litre, 208.23 seniti/litre, and 290.51 seniti/litre respectively.
A few factors contributed to the increase in prices. Crude oil, petrol, jet, and diesel prices went up last month. In addition, the freight rate has strengthened and the Tongan Pa’anga has been steady with the change in international prices flowing through to higher retail prices for all products in Tonga.
