Tonga commemorates ANZAC Day with dawn service [1]

“Lest we forget” ANZAC Day commemorations today, remember the day when ANZAC forces consisting of Australian and New Zealand forces (including Tongan soldiers) landed at Gallipoli, Turkey, during World War One in 1915.
Tonga marks the day with a Public Holiday on April 25 and a dawn service at the Cenotaph in Nuku'alofa.
An Australian mine hunting vessel, HMAS Gascoyne is berthed in Nuku’alofa at Vuna Wharf, and Commanding Officer Lieutenant Commander Sean Aitken and his crew participated at the 104th anniversary of the ANZAC Day at Pangai Lahi this morning.
A prayer service was led by Captain Sila Siufanga from the Salvation Army, followed by a speech by the Australian High Commissioner to Tonga, HE Mr Adrian Morrison.
Diplomats, armed services and other organisations laid wreaths at the Cenotaph, following HM King Tupou VI who attended the dawn service with Queen Nanasipau'u
The Australian High Commissioner HE Adrian Morrison of Australia; the New Zealand Acting High Commissioner, Ms Elena Procuta; a representative of the Tongan government, Hon. Semisi Fakahau; foreign diplomats, local consuls, and representatives of national organizations, including the Girls’ Guide also laid wreaths.
Following the service a gunfire breakfasst was held at the Australian High commissioner's residence in Ma'ufanga.
