Makave recycling cage first of 35 under Reduce, Recycle, Re-use project [1]

The installation of the first recycling cage/station for rubbish cans at Makave Village, in the Neiafu District Council was commissioned by the Acting New Zealand High Commissioner to Tonga, Elena Procuta, on November 27.
The recycling station is part of a 3R (Reduce, Recycle, Re-use) Waste Minimisation and Recycling Promotion Project that was officially launched by the New Zealand High Commissioner HE Ms Tiffany Babington in May. The Makave Recycling Station is the first of 35 recycling stations to be built in nine villages within the Neiafu District Council.
The $35,000 project funded by the New Zealand government is a collaboration of the Neiafu District Council, Ministry for MEIDECC and the Vava’u Environment Protection Association (VEPA).
