Ma'ufanga students celebrate new classrooms [1]

Around 200 students at the Malia Tupu ‘Imakulata Primary School in Ma’ufanga celebrated the handover of a new building with two classrooms on November 15.
Japanese Ambassador HE Mr. Tetsuya Ishii said he was happy to hand over a project that will help build the foundation of young citizens and cultivate in each pupil the possibility to grow into the future of Tonga and international society.
He commended the combined efforts of the school, PTA, contractor and the Catholic Church in guaranteeing access to education for all.
Fr Vehikite Malokula thanked the Ambassador for the significant assistance granted for the school. While HE Cardinal Mafi blessed the building.
Funded with around USD$89,178 by Japan’s Grant Assistance for Grass-Roots Human Security Projects (GGP), the building comes with a new bathroom facility.
GGP was introduced in 1990 to respond directly to basic human needs at the grass-roots level, has to date handed over 270 projects in Tonga.
