Tonga qualifies for Hamilton and Sydney 7s [1]

Tonga Rugby Sevens will return to the HSBC World Rugby Sevens circuit for the first time since 2014 after winning qualification for the the New Zealand 7s and Sydney 7s at the recent Oceania Rugby Sevens tournament in Fiji.

The qualification occurred as a result of the Tonga Sevens team being the “highest placed non-core team” at the Oceania Rugby Sevens tournament. Tonga secured fifth place in the tournament behind Fiji (Tournament winners), New Zealand, Samoa and Australia.

In the tournament final, Fiji defeated New Zealand 17 - 12 in overtime to win the 2018 Oceania Rugby Sevens.
