A new building consisting of two classrooms was handed over to St Francis of Assisi Primary School from the Government of Japan on November 9 in Nuku’alofa.
Japanese Ambassador HE Mr Tetsuya Ishii hoped each of the students would grow into a strong and responsible individual to uphold Tonga’s future societies.
“Support towards education has always been placed highly on Japan’s priority list, as we believe education is the base for developing a child’s capability and also a nation’s capacity.”
HE, Cardinal Mafi thanked the Ambassador for the significant assistance providing a better and safer educational environment for the young students.
The PTA sought Japan's assistance since 2010 to accomodate the growing number of students enrolled. The classrooms will be used by Class 5-6 students.
Constructed with USD$73,965 grant provided through the Grant Assistance for Grassroots Projects (GGP), the building was completed with a new bathroom facility.
