Woman hospitalized after hit and run [1]

A 44-year-old woman from Mataika was hospitalized with serious injuries after her parked vehicle was hit by another vehicle earlier this week.

Tonga Police reported that the crash occured on September 25 while the victim was sitting inside her vehicle parked on the side of Taufa'ahau Road, in the Nuku'alofa CBD, when allegedly a taxi crashed into her. The driver fled leaving her injured.

"We are still looking for this male taxi driver," said a police spokesperson today.

The woman victim was in a stable condition at Vaiola Hospital.
