New Zealand Prime Minister Jacinda Ardern with Tonga Deputy Police Commissioner Community Policing Pelenatita Fe’ao Vaisuai.
Deputy Police Commissioner Community Policing Pelenatita Fe’ao Vaisuai met New Zealand Prime Minister Jacinda Arden, under her Prime Minister's Fellowship, from September 10-14.
Pelenatita gained insight into policing in New Zealand and spent time shadowing senior members of the New Zealand Police executive. She also learned more about New Zealand approaches to youth justice and deportee management.
The Prime Minister congratulated Deputy Commissioner Vaisuai on her work and wished her the very best for her future career.
As Deputy Commissioner Community Policing, she overlooks all six police stations throughout Tonga with District Commanders reporting to her. Pelenatita's previous roles included Coordinator of the Regional Assistance Mission to the Solomon Islands (RAMSI) Pacific Islands Contingent in 2012, Manager of Corporate Services, worked at the Pacific Transnational Crime Coordination Centre in Suva, Officer in Charge of Tonga Police Transnational Crime Unit and Tonga Police Liaison Officer for the 2011 Rugby World Cup.
