Havelu pedestrian hit by vehicle [1]

A 25-year-old woman is in Vaiola Hospital after sustaining serious injuries when she was hit by a vehicle while walking in Havelu on Sunday morning, September 9.
 
Tonga Police said today a 22-year-old woman from Ma'ufanga has been arrested and charged with reckless driving causing grievous bodily harm and drunk driving.

She was driving north on the main road in Havelu, when she is alleged to have have hit the victim who was walking on the side of the road at around 6:00am.

The victim sustained severe injuries to her body including a broken leg. She is in a stable condition, said police.

Meanwhile, the accused is in custody pending court.
