Symposium to improve Tonga’s PFM Roadmap [1]

The ongoing reform of Public Finance Management in Tonga is being discussed by delegates from government ministries and departments at a three days symposium that opened at the Tanoa Hotel in Nuku'alofa, yesterday 4 September 2018.
With a theme “Strengthening Public Financial Management for better Service Delivery” the symposium is creating awareness of the Public Finance Management Roadmap 2014-2019 for Tonga.
Among the key issues to be discussed during the forum are the roles and responsibilities of key players under the reform.
The vision of the PFM Reform Roadmap 2014-2019 is for “Effective and efficient governance with a transparent and disciplined Public Finance Management system that serves the interests of the Government of Tonga and its people.”
The symposium was officially opened by the Acting Minister for Finance and National Planning, Hon. Mateni Tapueluelu.
The symposium Is financed by the Australian and the New Zealand Governments and facilitated by the Pacific Association of Supreme Audit Institutions (PASAI), in collaboration with the Pacific Financial Technical Assistance Centre (PFTAC). They are looking to obtain an update on the progress of the Tonga reform and to see how best all parties can improve the process and ensure the outputs of the plan.
The three-days symposium started yesterday 4 September and will end tomorrow, Thursday.
