A 48-year-old man has been arrested and charged in the seizure of 46 cannabis plants from a bush allotment in ‘Eua on Monday, August 13.

Loluhama Fine, ‘Eua District Commander said today the cannabis was seized from the bush allotment situated on the south west of the outer island. This was after receiving information of cannabis plants being cultivated in the area, he said.

The accused who is charged with cultivation of the illicit drug is detained in custody to appear at the Magistrate’s Court on a date to be confirmed.

The District Commander acknowledged the assistance of the public that led to the seizure.

“It only takes one call to disrupt the supply of drugs in our community and we encourage anyone who can provide information on drug dealing to contact police.”

He said Tonga Police is committed to disrupting the supply of drugs and preventing the harm this illegal trade supports.
