King opens vibrant Tongatapu Show [1]

King Tupou VI opened the Tongatapu Royal Agriculture, Fisheries and Tourism Trade Show at Fungamanamo’ui grounds on Saturday, July 28 concluding the national event for this year.
Plentiful food crops, vegetables, seafood, cakes, fine handicrafts, livestock, local services and products were on display, despite the fact that Tongatapu is still recovering from the aftermath of Tropical Cyclone Gita in February.
The King accompanied by HM Queen Nanasipau'u, said Tongatapu is the last of the shows and food supply is sufficient as it is on the outer islands.
The King happily inspected the displays and commended farmers, fishermen, handicraft makers and others who took part, on their hard work.
Organized by the Ministry of Agriculture, Food, Forests and Fisheries (MAFFF), the show is to encourage the development of these sectors and in the interest of food security, which started in Ha'apai, Niuatoputapu, Niuafo'ou, Vava'u and 'Eua.
