Cooking competition promotes food sustainability [1]

Winners of a cooking competition for student chefs from ‘Ahopanilolo Technical College, will be announced at Tongatapu’s Royal Agriculture, Fisheries and Tonga-Made Show on Saturday, July 28.

Five competitors were judged on main courses and dessert categories, meeting criteria for professional practice and preparation of food today, July 25.

Hosted by the Ministry of Agriculture MAFFF, Deputy Director Ha’unga Petelo said today, this is just one of the events for the show this year aimed to promote food sustainability.

He said the annual competition is held at the Ministry’s Food and Women Development Division, whose roles includes holding activities to encourage healthy eating.

King Tupou VI will award the prizes to winners during the show, at the Manamo'ui Grounds in 'Atele.

Meanwhile, the competitors Sione Iketau, Sione Lefai, Laumanu Uasike, Fakava Noa and Milieli Maile will also hold a cooking demonstration to the public visiting the show.
