A colourful new logo for the Tonga Communication Corporation (TCC) was launched by Dr Saia Piukala, Minister for Public Enterprises and Tapu Panuve, Chairman of the TCC Board of Directors recently.
Tapu said that the multi coloured TCC logo illustrates the intensity of the service that TCC is providing to the whole of Tonga and to the world.
Tonga was first connected through a Submarine Optic Fibre Cable in August 2013 to the Southern Cross Cable network in Fiji, and onwards to the Equinix data centre in Australia, the international hub and Tonga’s gateway to the rest of the world.
The management of Tonga’s Submarine Optic Fibre Cable service was the responsibility of the Tonga Cable Ltd. Initially, the two share holders of Tonga Cable Ltd were the Tonga Government as the major shareholder and TCC.
To further extend the service to Ha’apai and Vava’u, the Tonga Cable Ltd. increased the number of its shareholders to three: Tonga Government 33.2%, Tonga Communications Corporation 16.6% and Digicel Tonga Ltd. 16.6%.
The Submarine Optic Fibre Cable arrived in Pangai, Ha’apai on Tuesday 27 March 2018 and at Neiafu, Vava’u on Friday, 6 April 2018. They say that the Submarine Optic Fibre Cable has the capacity to handle 12 million phone calls at the same time.
