The ‘Ikale Tahi have defeated Fiji 27 – 19 in a friendly test match in Suva yesterday 23 June.

In a highly contested match, the ‘Ikale Tahi scored three tries. The half-time score was level 7 – 7 with Tonga scoring the first try by Paula Ngauamo.

Steve Mafi scored Tonga's second try early in the second half to put the ‘Ikale Tahi ahead 14 – 7. Fiji responded with a try and penalty conversion to lead 19 – 14.

Sonatane Takulua converted two penalties to put Tonga ahead 20 -19 in the 70th minute.

Daniel Faleafa scored Tonga’s third and final try to secure a 27 – 19 for Tonga before full time. Sonatane displayed his excellent kicking abilities by converting all tries and penalties.
