Vaha’akolo Road fatality named [1]

Tou’anga Kamea (37) has been named as the man who died on Friday night, June 1 after the car he was driving was involved in a collision at a Vaha'akolo Road roundabout in Nuku'alofa.
The victim from Fangaloto died two hours after being rushed to Vaiola Hospital.
A 51-year-old police officer has been arrested and charged relation to the accident, which occurred at around 11:15pm.
Police had reported that the officer was off duty at the time and was driving a UT Ford van heading north on Vaha’akolo Road, when he allegedly failed to give way at the roundabout and crashed into the driver's door of the white car driven by the victim.
The accused officer who is alleged to have been driving under the influence of alcohol remains in custody pending court.
He is charged with reckless driving causing death, driving under the influence of alcohol and driving a vehicle with no number plate.
