Lord Ma’afu to return as Minister for Lands [1]

The Prime Minister Hon ‘Akilisi Pohiva yesterday recommended to King Tupou VI to reappoint Lord Ma’afu as Minister for Lands and Natural Resources, after differences with another Cabinet Minister were reconciled.

Lopeti Senituli, the PM’s media advisor said the Prime Minister had in the morning met with Lord Ma'afu and Hon. Mateni Tapueluelu, Minister for Police, and reconciled their differences.
"At the end of the meeting th Prime Minister invited Lord Ma'afu to return to Cabinet as Hon Minister for Lands as well as Minister responsible for HMAF," he said.
“The Hon Prime Minister had also written to His Majesty, King Tupou VI requesting that Lord Ma'afu be reappointed to the portfolios he previously held.”
At the same time, Lopeti also confirmed that the PM had still not received any response from the King in regards to his previous recommendation for Lord Ma’afu’s resignation. Other recommendations to the King included the revocation of ‘Akosita Lavulavu as Minister of Internal Affairs, after criminal charges were laid against her, as well as recommendations for Losaline Ma’asi to replace her as Minister for Internal Affairs, and for Rev Dr Mohenoa Puloka to be appointed Governor of Ha’apai.
