Four students at the Christ’s University in Pacific in Nuku’alofa were awarded scholarships to study Marine Biology in China, by Princess Pilolevu Tuita, on April 5.

The fully funded scholarships were granted by the Pacific-China Friendship Association, of which the Princess is Patron.

Recipients Tupou Seini Bryce of Kolofo’ou, ‘Apasia Kafa of Talafo’ou, Melenaite Vai of Veitongo and Tikisonali Vete of Leimatu’a will study a Certificate Course in Marine Biology at the Shanghai Ocean University from Åpril to October this year.

The scholarships were given to the Tonga-China Friendship Association who selected the recipients.

Meanwhile, a total of 20 scholarships were awarded to students throughout the Pacific, including the four in Tonga.

Christ’s University in Pacific is the tertiary division of the Tokaikolo Education System headed by Rev Dr Liufau Vailea Saulala, the founder of the church.

It was formerly named Lavengamalie Christian University, which aimed to provide bible-based and Christ-centered programs, with study areas in theology, education, information technology and business.

The university's campus was opened by Crown Prince Tupouto'a in 2015 at the Maseia Plaza.
