Japan upgrades schools and water supply [1]

Grant Aid of around USD$304,000 was committed by the Government of Japan on March 15 to upgrade two primary schools, a College, and a village water supply in Tongatapu.
Japanese Ambassador HE Tetsuya Ishii signed the agreements with representatives from Hofoa Government Primary School, St. Francis of Assisi Primary School, Takuilau College, and Kolonga village water committee.
Hofoa receives USD$81,238 for the construction of a building with three classrooms. St Francis of Assisi Primary School receives USD$73,965 for the construction of two classrooms, and a bathroom facilities. While Takuilau College, at Lapaha gets USD$84,331 to build four classrooms.
Kolonga village on the other hand, will have its water system restored with USD$64,908 to install two diesel generators and pump, one water tank (5000 gal), pipe and fittings.
The Ambassador said the cyclone has caused much damage in Tonga but with cooperation between communities and our nation through projects such as these, the friendly and close working relations between Japan and Tonga will be enriched.
Takuilau College Principal, Sitani Paulo Mahe who represented the recipients thanked Japan for their generous assistance, which was made under its Grant Assistance for Human Security Projects (GGP).
