‘Aisake Lavelua (36) the passenger in a vehicle that crashed into a power pole at Fo’ui in the weekend, passed away at Vaiola Hospital on Monday night, March 5.

Police were notified by Vaiola Hospital at around 6:20pm yesterday, that the 36-year-old man from Kanokupolu had passed away.

Meanwhile, the 27-year-old male driver remains seriously injured at Vaiola.

Police had reported that alcohol and speed are suspected to have contributed to the crash, which occurred at around 7:00am on Sunday, March 4.

The driver and five other passengers were heading west on Hihifo Road. The driver is alleged to have lost control of the steering wheel and crashed the vehicle into a power pole.

The other four passengers were not critically injured.
