Tonga to compete at Oceania Sevens Championship [1]

The Tonga national men’s and women’s rugby 7s team are currently in Fiji, preparing for the 2017 Oceania Sevens Championships which will kick-off at the ANZ Stadium in Suva this Friday 10 November.

The two-day tournament features 13 teams in the men’s competition and 8 in the women’s. Powerhouses Fiji, New Zealand, Australia and Samoa are all competing.

The championship is a qualifying tournament for the 2018 Hong Kong Sevens tournament, the 2018 Rugby Sevens World Cup and the 2018 Commonwealth Games. The qualifying excludes Fiji, New Zealand, Australia and Samoa – all of whom have already qualified.
