Catholic Women’s League celebrates Silver Jubilee [1]

The Catholic Women League of Tonga celebrated its Silver Jubilee with various activities over the weekend, including a luncheon attended by HM Queen Nanasipau’u on Saturday, October 7.
Hosted by Cardinal Mafi at ‘Apifo’ou, the lunch attended by foudning members, included colourful traditional performances.
Women from parishes throughout Tongatapu, Vava’u, Ha’apai, ‘Eua were in Nuku’alofa for the celebration, that started with a mass service on Thursday evening, October 5. This was followed by the league’s general assembly, held every four-years to appoint new executive members. The celebration ended with a thanksgiving choral night on Sunday, October 8.
The new President is Hifoileva Fifita, who took over from Mafi Ponitini Tupou.
Lady ‘Ainise Sevele, Assistant to CWL President and board member of the World Union Catholic Women Organization, said the women's league is open to any Catholic woman to become a member, "aimed to help spread the good news of Jesus Christ through faith and service." CWL is one of the smallest members of the World Union Catholic Women Organization, she said.
