Death at Popua canal now a homicide investigation [1]

Police today confirmed they are treating the death of Kevini Maka (22) whose body was recovered from a waterway next to Popua Park as a homicide.
Acting Chief Superintendent Tevita Vailea said today this is based on information they have received.
He said the post-mortem was completed on Friday September 8, and they wait on a report.
However, we have information now to confirm that we are treating this case as a homicide, he said.
Police investigation continues but no one has been charged at this stage.
The body was found in the waterway, a new canal situated between the golf course of the Popua Park and Patangata area on September 5, by people from the surrounding area.
His body is expected to be released to his family today, said Vailea.
