Bruno Banani weds Silia Leger in Tonga [1]

Bruno Banani married Silia Leger at the Catholic Basilica Church in Nuku’alofa, Tonga on 21 June 2017.

Tonga’s first ever Winter Olympian, Bruno Banani married Silia Leger at the Catholic Basilica Church in Nuku’alofa, Tonga yesterday, 21 June 2017.

The newlyweds met in Germany while Bruno was playing rugby and Silia was studying for her Masters degree.

The couple has yet to decide whether they will reside in Tonga or in Germany where Bruno plays rugby with the Leipzig Rugby Club.

Last year, Bruno was hopeful of taking part in the 2018 Winter Olympics but has not been successful finding a sponsor.

"I will not be able to participate in this Winter Olympics due to lack of funds" Bruno told Matangi Tonga. "I'm still hopeful that I will find a sponsor so I can continue with my training." 

Bruno was the first Tongan to represent Tonga in Luge in the 2014 Winter Olympics in Sochi.
