Tonga High School marks 70th Anniversary [1]

Tonga High School is celebrating its 70th Anniversary in Nuku’alofa with a range of events, from June 1-5.
Ex-students, going back to the founding year of 1947, joined in a happy colourful parade through central Nuku’alofa this morning Friday, June 2, led by three pioneers Lady Tuna Fielakepa, Kelepi Po’uliva’ati and Lolohea Tupouniua.
Celebrations started on Thursday night, June 1 with an Aloha Night Meet and Greet, at the school compound, with a ball scheduled for tonight, Friday, June 2 at the Queen Salote Memorial Hall.
Sunday, June 4 will be marked with a church service at the Centennial church, followed by a feast prepared by the current students, at the Queen Salote Memorial Hall.
The final event on Monday, June 5 is the unveiling of the founder’s monument at the school compound.
The late King Taufa’ahau Tupou IV founded the government high school, which has many prominent Tongans among its graduates.
