Inquest confirms diver drowned at Patangata [1]

An inquest has confirmed that Sioeli Tu'akalau (72) died from drowning.

His body was recovered from the sea at Patangata, Tongatapu, on Tuesday night, March 7 after he left home to go diving.

Tonga Police confirmed today confirmed the findings of the inquest.

Sioeli was last seen by his wife at 6:00pm when he left to dive for fish off the seafront, near his home. At 10:00pm his body was recovered by people in the village.

Police also confirmed that the diver did not use gas cylinders for his diving.
