Prices for petrol, diesel and kerosene have all risen for the next month mid-January to mid-February, following the weakening of the pa'anga. The Tonga Competent Authority approved the prices to be effective from today January 16.

The price of wholesale petrol has increased by 15.36 seniti per litre, wholesale kerosene by 15.50 seniti/litre and wholesale diesel by 12.41 seniti/litre. The increases come after  significant decreases in last month's petroleum prices.

In December retail prices for Kerosene lead were 154.11 seniti/litre. The retail price for Diesel and Petrol were 233.16 seniti/ litre and 236.72 seniti/litre respectively.

"The Tongan Pa'anga weakened in December which, when combined with a large increase in international prices, has resultedin a significant increase in local prices this month," the Competent Authority stated.
