Tongan dancers attract visitors to Tongan exhibit at Guangdong Expo [1]

Live Tongan dance performances at Tonga’s exhibition were a hit with visitors to the 2016 Guangdong 21st Century Maritime Silk Road International Expo in Dongguan, China.
The Tongan Exhibition was one of 4,000 booths on show at the four-day event, which attracted over 40 countries worldwide and over 100,000 people.
Tourism Tonga’s Tupouseini Taumoepeau, who is with the group in China, reported that the group performed for the Deputy Mayor of Dongguan City, HE Mr Yang Xiaotang. Dongguan City is the sister city of Tonga's Ha’apai Island group.
Tonga's delegation included Olympian Pita Taufatofua, 2016, Miss Heilala Laura Lauti, Miss Heilala runner-up Vika Toetu’u, and 12 Tongan cultural dancers from Hawaii led by Walter and Telesia Tonga, as well as Ministry of Tourism and Tourism Tonga staff.
Tonga has been invited to take part in next year’s expo in China.
