‘Uhila Liava’a passes away [1]

Sione ‘Uhilamoelangi Liava’a (74) the Chairman of the Public Service Commission passed away suddenly on Tuesday morning, October 4 at Vaiola Hospital.
Family confirmed today that he collapsed at home in Tofoa on Saturday, October 1 and rushed to the hospital.
His wake and funeral service will be held at the St Barnabus Anglican Church on Saturday, October 8 at Mataika. He will be laid to rest at Mahumeifutu cemetery in Ha’avakatolo, later in the afternoon.
‘Uhila was appointed Chairman of the Public Service Commission for four-years effective in April last year. He was also a Director on the National Reserve Bank of Tonga Board.
An accountant, he had served many years in the civil service where he was a Secretary for Finance. He was also a former Member of Parliament.
He is survived by his wife Susitina, four children - three sons and one daughter, and nine grandchildren.
