A young Samoan women who has claimed stigmata on a few occasions since Easter this year, has converted to the Catholic faith in order to fulfill her mission of travelling to Rome, after she says she received messages from God.

Toaipuapuaga Opapo Soana'i, the daughter of a minister of the Congregational Christian Church (CCCS) in Samoa, first experienced stigmata earlier this year during an Easter play for her Sunday school when she suddenly began to bleed from wounds on her hands, head and feet.

Toa, short for Toaipuapuaga, told the Talamua Online News that since then she had received a total of 44 messages from God. She has gathered a following in Samoa including the Samoan Prime Minister Tuilaepa Lupesoliai Sailele Malielegaoi and the local Catholic Church clergy.

One of the 44 messages told her to convert to the Catholic faith in order to go to Rome where more messages awaited her.

A message to the Prime Minister and another requesting Toa’s father accompany her to Rome were presented to the Prime Minister last Wednesday, who assured Toa and her family that arrangements for their trip were underway.

Stigmata

According to the Talamua, Toa said she and her husband felt the church shaking when she experienced stigmata the Sunday prior to receiving the last three messages.

“As we recount the rosary, we felt the church shaking and thought it was an earthquake, I reached out and held on to the statue, and as we finished reciting the Rosary, so did the shaking.”

Toa’s husband Patrick prayed and requested the Lord for a sign. The wounds on Toa’s hands appeared and blood was coming out of the wounds.
