Tongan nobleman faces rape inquiry [1]

Tongan nobleman Hon. Lasike appeared in the Nuku'alofa Magistrate's Court today charged with the crime of rape.

Lasike was arrested and detained by the police last week for questioning. He appeared briefly in the Police Magistrate's Court on February 27 and was ordered to appear in court today to set a date for a Preliminary Inquiry.

Peau Pifeleti the Police Magistrate set the Preliminary Inquiry to be held Tuesday, March 14.

Police Prosecutor Viliami Lutua said that Lasike had not entered any plea but he would do so before the Preliminary Inquiry.

Lasike was represented in court by legal counsel Mana Kaufusi.
