Tongan swimmer Irene Prescott (22) finished fifth in her heat for the Women’s 50m freestyle at the Olympics Acquatic Stadium on August 13 (Brazil time).

Irene’s time of  28.68 seconds placed her 61st out of 88 swimmers who started in 12 heats.

Women's 50m Freestyle - Heat 5 results as follows:

The 16 best swimmers progressed to the Semi-finals with the qualifying swimmers times between 24.23 and 24.82 seconds in the heats.

The World Record of 23.73 seconds (2009) and Olympic Record of 24.05 seconds (2012) for the Swimming Women’s 50m Freestyle still stands.

The final for the event will be held on Sunday (Brazil time) with two Australian swimmers qualifying into the final eight.
