Solomon Haumono stopped in 4th Round by Joseph Parker [1]

Australian-Tongan boxer Solomon Haumono (right, above) was defeated last night by number one IBF contender and New Zealand champion Joseph Parker at the Horncastle fight arena in Christchurch, New Zealand. The fight was ended by a controversial stoppage in the fourth round.

The 40-year old Solomon Haumono gave Parker a run for his money after landing some overhand rights in the first and third round. However, the 24-year old Joseph Parker proved to be too quick for Solomon and landed a solid uppercut in the fourth round, which floored his opponent. Despite Solomon beating the 10 second-count and appearing to be in good condition, the referee called a stop to the fight amidst boos from the crowd.

Joseph Parker will now face undefeated world champion Anthony Joshua for his IBF Belt. Dates for the fight are yet to be confirmed.
