A 56-year-old woman from Canada was found dead by her husband (54) who went to wake her up in their yacht ‘Sea Oak’ on Thursday morning 7 July in Neiafu, Vava'u.
Police in Nuku’alofa said this afternoon the husband (54) reported that he found her dead. Police have not released their names at this stage of their investigation.
The woman's body is now being kept at Ngu Hospital for the pathologist to determine the cause of death.
"We are not in a position to say anything at this stage until the doctor completes his examination sometime next week," said a police spokesperson.
The couple from Canada arrived in their yacht in Neiafu on 26 May on a visit.
"They owned the yacht and were staying in it during their time in Neiafu. They were expected to depart Tonga next month on 21 August."
