Funeral of Hon. 'Ahome'e to be held in Tonga [1]

The 'apo for the Tongan noble, the late Hon. 'Ahome'e, will include two nights of mourning in Nuku'alofa on Thursday February 23, and Friday February 24, the Tongan Prime Minister's office confirmed today.

The noble 'Ahome'e (35), who died suddenly from heart failure in the USA on February 9, will be flown from Los Angeles on February 21 arriving in Tonga on February 23.

The first night of the 'Apo is to be held for his family, and the second night for the kainga, and they are both to be held at his residence Matahiva at Hala Vaha'akolo, opposite the Royal Palace. His body will be taken on Saturday, February 25 for burial at his estate, Ha'avakatolo village.

'Ahome'e, born Tevita Vuna Tu'i 'o e Tau, was the only child of ('Ahome'e) Viliami Vuna Tu'i 'o e Tau Manu-'o-Pangai, and his wife Hon. Lavinia Veiongo 'Ahome'e of Ha'avakatolo, Tongatapu. He was a nephew of Queen Halaevalu Mata'aho, who is a sister of his father.

'Ahome'e was the Lord Master of the Royal Household at the Palace office in Nuku'alofa.

He is survived by his wife Hon.Tangikina and three children, Viliami Tu'i 'o e Tau, Pavel Takanga mo e Mafi and Lavinia Veiongo.
