The Vodaphone Warriors have released their star centre Konrad Hurrell. The NRL club announced the move today May 25. Konrad’s contract was originally scheduled to end in 2018. The cut comes after reports of a strained relationship between Konrad and his club regarding off-field incidents.

The managing director of the Warriors, Jim Doyle stated in a media release “After discussions

between Konrad, his management and us we’ve reached a mutual agreement for him to be released now – We would like to thank Konrad for his contribution since coming into our development system. He has been a popular member of the club and we wish him all the best for the future.”

Known for his crashing runs Konrad was a standout player for the Warriors and has a cult following among many NRL fans. He debuted for the Warriors in 2012 and made 71 NRL appearances for the club.

Hurrell stated in the media release, “I will always be thankful to the Vodafone Warriors for all they have done for me and the way they have helped me develop as a rugby league player – I’m grateful to all the boys I have played alongside, all the people at the club and also the members and fans.”
